Behind the Scenes: The Anti-Office

Looks can be deceiving...

I'm sitting on the love seat you see pictured above. And what you can't see in this photo is the boxes of inventory stacked up on the other side of the room. 

The majority of my inventory is a couple miles down the road sitting on bland metal shelving in a shared office space. I head down to the office a few 3-4 times a week to fold tees, pack orders, and update inventory. Business as usual.

It's exactly what you would imagine an office space would look like. Generic blue carpeting, white walls, wood doors. Gray L-shaped desks and swivel chairs. There's even a kitchenette (great for when I forget my coffee). 

But there's nothing about the space that inspires me. When I sit down at my desk with my laptop, I feel like I have to get work done and suddenly I don't want to. And you know exactly what feeling I'm talking about. When you don't find your work inspiring, you don't put your heart into it. And in this business, that's a huge problem.

So I set out on a mission to build an inspiring anti-office in my home. There's a love seat and ottoman, my design tools and laptop, and an inspiring vibe that gives me all the feels.

But you'll never find a desk in my home office. Hence, the anti-office. 

So if you're also feeling less than inspired and you're the work-from-home type. I challenge you to create your version of the anti-office.
